(for straight line and double eccentric)
The Lindow Rose Engine Worm Indexer is a device for ultra fine, to coarse indexing on the Rose Engine. It’s useful for wood or metal. It’s designed to achieve the finest indexing requirements for engine turning / Guilloche while remaining rigid to hold up to the tool pressure of metal engraving while not being tight. The worm wheel has 120 teeth for coarse direct indexing. While one complete rotation of the worm provides 3 degrees of rotation, or down to ½ degree or finer by using the worm dial. The unit attaches directly to the front slide of the Double Eccentric Chuck. It’s provided with a “push / pull” system of mounting screws so that the plate can be pulled tightly toward the face of the slide, yet be “levelled” by way of using the setscrew in each corner accompanying the T-Nut bolt to push the plate out as needed in order to indicate the work perfectly. The nose of the worm hub is threaded 3/4″-16NF to accept a chuck or pie jaw chuck with the same threaded back plate. Using the two axes of the Double Eccentric itself, the work can be brought into axial alignment with the spindle of the machine, or moved eccentric to the spindle centerline as desired.
